Hamilton’s Male Academy Pledges to Stamp out Bullying

The LBUSD Male Academy is a district wide initiative designed to help improve the graduation rates of underrepresented promising male students. At Hamilton, the Male Academy consists of a group of culturally and academically diverse young men. The goals of the Male Academy include building a sense of community, pride, and self-esteem through various activities which include: leadership skills development, goal setting, life skills development, study hall, team sports, weight lifting, and decision making skills.
Every Thursday, the NFL Former Players Association provides guest speakers to meet with our Male Academy students. On this day, students are given the option of dressing in business attire which helps them gain a sense of pride. During the month of February, Male Academy students discussed the topic of bullying and its devastating consequences Each Male Academy student wrote how they will personally put an end to bullying. The culminating event led to each student signing a pledge to stamp out bullying.
