Fire Prevention Week

 

BARK dogs have been visiting our 6th graders in the library.  Their Language Arts Unit 2 is called:  Animal Allies.  Studies have shown that beginning readers are more comfortable reading out loud to dogs than to people. 

The dogs visit sixth graders who sit down and read to them.  The dog owners are teaching our students about the reading program as well as many other topics related to dog ownership. 

Students are able to ask questions and then they get to pet all of the dogs.  They have met Jet, a Golden Retriever, Violet, a Pit Bull and Labrador mix, Henry a Labrador, and Lady, a type of sheep dog.

Monday, Dec 18 - Wear Christmas Hats or Headbands

 

Tuesday, Dec 19 - Wear Your Christmas Socks

 

Wednesday, Dec 20 - Wear your Christmas Shirts or Sweaters

 

Thursday, Dec 21 - Dress Like an Elf

 

Friday Dec 22 - Dress as Santa or Mrs. Claus

 

Congratulations to our 8th graders for submitting their High School Choice Applications!

Students and families will be notified in late February or early March via ParentVue and U.S. Mail to which high school pathways they have been accepted. 

Students and families will be required to indicate an "intent to enroll" in a single pathway to hold their spot in that pathway. 

Students who did not submit High School Choice Applications by the December 20th deadline are encouraged to submit late applications. Visit the school office for more info.

Fire Prevention Week is a national effort that runs from October 8th-14th, 2017. 

Please join our local safety agencies in celebrating it Saturday, October 14th, 2017, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at Fire Station 12, 1199 East Artesia Blvd, Long Beach 90805.  See you there!
