Eighth Grade Shadow Days
8th Grade Shadow Days Still Open at Cabrillo, Lakewood, and Jordan
Greetings, Eighth Grade Families! A reminder that 8th-grade students may still participate in a Shadow Day at Cabrillo, Jordan, or Lakewood High School, but a request must be submitted via the District's online Shadow Day Reservation System by Wednesday, November 16, 2016. After that date, no further requests will be accepted.
Any current eighth grade student may request up to two shadow experiences using the online Request Form. Shadow Days are activities where eighth grade students attend school for a full or part day at a participating high school. Students will participate in pathway lessons and experience what it is like to be a high school student on that campus.
The Shadow Day opportunities now remaining open will all take place between Nov. 30 and Dec. 2. The absence from middle school will be counted as a school-based activity, similar to a field trip. Parents are responsible for transporting their student to and from the high school.
Shadow Day openings at McBride, Millikan, Poly, Renaissance, and Wilson are filled to capacity, so those schools will accept no further reservations. Browning, CAMS, and Sato did not offer shadow opportunities this year, but interested families may still attend the Site Nights at Browning and CAMS towards the end of this month to get a tour and confirm details.
If you already have a reservation, the high schools will be in contact with you as their shadow dates draw near. For assistance, please drop by to visit our School Counselor, Mr. Bryan Dilts, or call the Choice Helpline at (562)997-8306.
